APPLYING FOR A STUDIO
Following an extensive restoration project, the Old Parcels Office Artspace now provides 7 artists studios which are shared by 11 studio artists. Each benefits from natural daylight, electric lighting, its own lockable door, a sink and power sockets.
All our studios are currently let but if you wish to join our waiting list please submit your CV together with your website details and/or 6 images of their work to info@oldparcelsoffice.org
Applications are welcome from solo artists and groups wishing to share.
RESIDENT STUDIO ARTISTS
Lesley Warner
Lesley works on the potter’s wheel making work inspired by her morning swims in Scarborough’s South Bay.
Sculptural pieces reference the feeling of being in the sea, the light, or a particular wave, each one relating to a specific day’s swim and a sketch-book entry.
Smaller-scale functional pieces draw on the colours and watery nature of the landscape.

Lizzie Sky Hall
Studied at Epsom Art School, Croydon College, Central St Martins UAL and Norfolk Painting school.
Lizzie’s work is characterised by her love of colour and fascination with the infinite possibilities of mark making with paint. She is interested in creating a sense of the character of her subjects for the viewer. An engagement with the joy of life.

Kane Cunningham
Kane Cunningham is a landscape painter whose work focuses on the subtle changes in the landscape due to climate change.
These observations, painted in the landscape with watercolour, aim to stimulate a discussion about the changing environment and our impact upon the landscape over time.
CLAIRE.
CLAIRE. is a multi-media image-maker. The creative process draws upon autobiographical material and experiences.
From collage with drawings and photos, to costumes with sewing and knitting, or simply writing to put images into the audiences’ minds. All these feed into, and are designed to generate live performance-based works that seek to elucidate states of mental and physical being.
Trish Shaw
Trish is a Scarborough based artist predominately using paper and a scalpel to cut both negative and positive pieces of paper to leave delicate images for the viewer to interpret.
Trish also enjoys the freedom of making fluid artwork and printmaking.
Salona
Salona did the specialist oil painting course at Norfolk Painting School, 2019-20, studying under artist/teacher Martin Kinnear.
Her Steps Going Up series symbolise Hope in a difficult world. The Dandelions On The Cliff-Face series are about Survival In Adversity. All began as work on Scarborough South Cliff paths and steps in May 2021, and were painted during and since the pandemic.
Jennifer Weston
Jennifer Weston is a multi-disciplinary artist, born and bred in North Yorkshire. Her recent work is part of the ‘Scenes from Scarborough’ public art commission 2021 and highlights the decline of marine life in the North Sea.
She was recently nominated two art awards; Social Art Award, at the Institute for Art and Innovation, Berlin 2019 and FrikiFish Magazine Art Award, Barcelona 2020.
Her artwork is featured in numerous publications and is exhibited both nationally and internationally and script writing has been performed for schools and colleges across the UK.

Mary-Ann Stevens
Mary-Ann creates larger than life characters. Appealing, quirky, and unconventional, the work is characterised by off-beat humour which belies a sense of melancholy.
The work is provocative, and visually striking, with a bitter-sweet edge to it. This interplay between the exploration of adult concerns of gender, sexuality, and appearance, together with a childlike playfulness and construction, gives the work a curious, appealing yet uncom-fortable effect.
Jacqui Barrowcliffe
Working across various disciplines, but mainly photography and installation, Jacqui’s work focuses on process and impermanence. Inspired by both the domestic and the natural she responds to her surroundings to develop a narrative that is both personal and universal.
Most recently she is using the cyanotype process to explore issues around climate change, in particular rising sea levels and coastal erosion.

Grace Lyons
Grace Lyons is a South African artist now based in the UK. She is a self taught painter who is inspired by the human body and Ancient Mythology, by combining an earthy organic colour palette and embracing the structure of the body and its movements. In 2022 she decided to focus on her passion for art full time and is now working from her studio in Scarborough.
