Complementing the Old Parcels Office ‘Surroundings’ exhibition – 9 July 2-4 at OPO
The Blow-ins (Bridget and Phil with Celtic harp, guitar and voices) will be playing music and songs to evoke a sense of place in a variety of landscapes including Scarborough itself. We will also be exploring the hinterlands of the soul with musical journeys into both joyful and painful aspects of our lives.
FREE – hat collection in aid of the UNHCR fund for Ukraine.
Come anytime during the afternoon. We will be having a break at some time between 2.45 ad 3.15 but otherwise the music will be continuous.
The Blow-ins make gentle acoustic music with Celtic harp, guitar and voices. Playing
together since they met in 2012 they’re well known at local folk sessions and have been
heard on Coast and County Radio, Tempo FM , FAB Folk and Blues and Sound of
Scarborough live streams. They’ve performed their eclectic mix of old and new folk songs
and tunes and their own compositions at Sea Fest and Folk East, making their debut on the
virtual stage at Scarborough’s own Headland festival in 2020. Described by Tempo FM’s
Tony Haynes as ‘one of the North Yorkshire folk scene’s best kept secrets’ a musical journey
with the Blow-ins goes from ancient love songs to contemporary protest with quiet humour
and powerful emotion.
