Trustee Vacancy on the board of Scarborough Studios Community Interest Organisation (SSCIO), the registered charity that runs the Old Parcels Office Artspace (OPO).
One of our long standing Trustees has just started a new job so is standing down. We are therefore looking for a new Trustee.
Since it opened in September 2021 the OPO has quickly established a reputation for bringing high quality contemporary art, music and other events to the Yorkshire Coast. SSCIO is also leading a project to open up more spaces as studios and gallery spaces in Scarborough town centre.
SSCIO is run by volunteers and Trustees combine their governance role (see below) with responsibility for practical tasks which include managing the website, organising and installing exhibitions, managing volunteers, helping to invigilate exhibitions, organising other events etc.
We are looking for someone who have the skills and knowledge to contribute to the promotion of The Arts for the benefit of local people and the wider community. To do this effectively you will need knowledge and/or experience of the Arts. Ideally you will also have an additional skills and perhaps a bit of time to make a practical contribution in an area such as community engagement, education, marketing, public relations/communications, or fundraising.
Meetings take place 4 – 6 times a year but most Trustees also contribute their skills and time in addition to attending Board Meetings.
