The Old Parcels Office Artspace is pleased to announce that applications are now open for our first Artists Residency, offered as part of our partnership with the Coastal North Collective. The residency runs for a period of 8 weeks and offers artists of any discipline the chance to develop a new body of work in a shared studio space. Open to artists from any background, you are invited to submit your application outlining your proposal and how the residency will benefit your ongoing practice. There is no requirement to take work to completion, but we will ask you to offer a workshop/artist talk/demonstration connected to your practice, which will be open to the public.

If selected, you will receive a bursary of £250 to cover your Artist fee for this and to support the production of your work during the residency period.

The Old Parcels Office Artspace (OPO) has 7 studio spaces and currently houses 10 resident artists working in a variety of disciplines. During the residency period you will be invited to join us in an informal group crit and present your practice. There will be opportunity to promote your work over the residency period through OPO social media channels. More about OPO can be found here.

Terms & Conditions

This open call is open to any artist in the Yorkshire & Humber and North East regions. Artists requiring accommodation will need to make their own arrangements as OPO is unable to offer accommodation support.

The residency entitles the selected artist to a shared studio space (8am – 8pm) during the stipulated period. The studio has heating, electric lighting, its own lockable door, a sink, power sockets, Wi-Fi as well as shared access to a small kitchenette and toilets. The artist is responsible for providing any materials/furniture/equipment required to carry out their work.

The selected artist agrees to offer a workshop/artist talk/demo open to the public as part of the residency agreement.

The selected artist will receive a bursary of £250 to cover all Artist fees and support materials and production costs..
